He is playing the role of courageous Pandyan King of 8th century. The formal shooting of this film begins on January 28th at Chennai.

Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone who disappointed with film 'Rana's' shelving, feels quite fortunate to bag the opportunity to pair with Rajinikanth in this film. Oscar Award winner AR Rahman is scoring music for this film. Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya R Ashwin is producing this film and she is also looking after technical aspects of this movie. KS Ravi Kumar is directing this movie.
