A radiation leak inside California's San Onofre Nuclear Plant may have leaked into the surrounding areas on Tuesday night exposing 7 million residents to radiation.
Plant operators say that their workers and the public were never in any danger, however a spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says that it s possible that some small traces of radiation may have been released into the air.
The leaked came from the steam tubes of one of the reactors. What failed was a part that was replaced in December 2010, plant management says. San Onofre is just 45 miles north of San Diego.
